Witty, funny, beautifully written and dotted with life’s truths like sprinkles on a birthday cake’ CATHY KELLY I finally finished this BELTER of a read from Jane Fallon...It is FABULOUS - with such warmth and humour, and the usual dose of the dish that is best served cold. Just Got Real is the perfect summer read.' * CLAIRE ALLAN * Your writing makes the world a brighter place, [Jane Fallon]. Just Got Real is an absolute joy JOANNA CANNON Her best yet! Ingenious and entertaining as ever but this book has a lot of WARMTH and HEART'' MARIAN KEYES Ingenious. Her eye for detail, compressed emotion and the absurdity that lurks beneath what people say to each other, is unerring. One of our very finest comic novelists Tortoise Media

However, you have to remember that I was raised on shows such as Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven, and movies such as Beauty and the Beast (the original animated feature, not the recent live-action flub) and The Princess Diaries. So, female-fronted stories featuring strong heroines are what I'm used to.

So, what did I think of this book? It read like a DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie, that is)...but, as a fan of the Mouse network, that isn't a bad thing! The story was fun, and the ending was rather touching; AJ made for a likable heroine who overcomes dire circumstances. Overall, I enjoyed this one. While I for the most part enjoyed AJ's character more than that of Kate, I appreciated the fact that there was more to Kate than one would have first thought. In particular, I loved the fact that the authors chose to represent Kate as someone who has a strong relationship with her siblings, as it definitely gave her character an extra depth. Kate's brother Kaden plays a fairly important role in the book, as he starts to develop a romance with AJ throughout the course of the story, and it was really endearing to see the lengths the two of them go to keep their relationship from going too fast or too far. This may have been a shorter length novel, but it still manages to dive into some pretty important issues like losing a parent, parental divorce and remarriage, peer pressure, rumors, and overall, standing up for what you believe in. I loved it. The set-up is glorious - a woman who joins a dating app with a fake photo meets a man whose photo is the only real thing about him. A novel about friendship and treachery that contains what must be the killer twist of the year. Totally brilliant' TONY PARSONS I am genuinely really struggling to rate this one. I had good feelings about it. I had bad feelings. I enjoyed it overall but downright disliked it at first. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the last half of the book which was entertaining. To me, this read like a crossover between Desperate Housewives and The Tinder Swindler.

I'm a huge fan of this author's gripping, sharp and brilliantly twisty books, and I'm delighted to report that this latest is just as deliciously readable as the rest . . . A rollercoaster of revenge. I loved it * Daily Mail * A smart and funny look at the pitfalls of online dating. It provides laugh-out-loud moments . . . I've read all Jane Fallon's books! -- ADELE PARKS * SUN * Just Got Real is a story of four vividly-drawn women and one horribly believable man, a novel about friendship and treachery that contains what must be the killer twist of the year. Totally brilliant.' * TONY PARSONS *Romance: This book's romance is simple, clean, and cute. Kaden and AJ end up dating (even though they have their differences) and are super sweet and all that. On the other hand, Kate's "boyfriend", Alex ends up being really annoying. He does some bad things to embarrass Kate, and lets just say they don't have a great relationship.

Just going to put it out there straight away that I didn't really like this book much. I have read a previous novel from this author and quite enjoyed it, but I wasn't a fan of this one. I found it a bit hard to swallow that Joni was on her high horse about Ant lying when she herself had used pictures of her sister on her online profile, then followed (stalked...) Ant to force a meeting in person, at which point she used a fake name and had to change her phone number so Ant didn't put two and two together. I mean... really? Ant was 100% not a good person, but Joni wasn't exactly honest herself. I kept reading because I was mildly interested to see how it would all turn out, but I can't honestly say I enjoyed it. There were some parts I appreciated, like when Joni forms a connection with the other women that Ant is seeing. I whipped through Just Got Real by Jane Fallon in a single sunlounger session and howled with laughter . . . A tautly plotted story of betrayal and revenge, it's threaded with authentic characters and heartwarming friendship -- Clare Macintosh * Good Housekeeping * Plot: Really good, it wasn't too fast but not too slow either. Main characters (AJ and Kate) are asked to be on a reality show. Kate thinks that this is her way to fame and will be great for her future in fashion, while AJ would rather go hunting and be with her brothers. Both girls have things that they're struggling with, but through an unexpected friendship maybe, just maybe, they can work things out. Overall, I was entertained, but not fully invested. However, I would definitely read more books by Jane Fallon.

A deliciously compelling story of romance and revenge. Just Got Real is intelligent, funny, and sharply observed. Be prepared to read in one sitting!" - Lucy Clarke Sadie Robertson in her new book “Life Just Got Real” published by Howard Books takes us into the lives of A.J. Stewart and Kate Kelly. The three main characters are so different but equally likeable, and I think lots of readers will relate to them in many ways. Life Just Got Real focuses on two teen girls who are very different from one another. While the wealthy and cultured Katie is used to public scrutiny, AJ is new to any attention outside of her family. When both girls are approached to be the stars of a new reality series, however, neither is too thrilled with the idea.
