I’ve mentioned the Muji pens a few times in the past and I’ve always felt like I needed to mention that I didn’t find them the most comfortable pen to hold. The Japanese MUJI Gel Ink Pen features an ink prevention mechanism that stops the ink from flowing in the wrong direction and prevents any breaks in the writing line or ink leakage. If you don’t have that option, I still recommend these Muji products, but you’ll have to do the math on the actual final cost to get these in your hands.

Unlike the standard Muji gel pen I sometimes see in the wild, this pen is retractable and has a handy spring-loaded clip. I’ve been dealing with RSI issues for a while and it was suggested that I try using a grip on my pen. Something that I’ve realized is that when a pen is too smooth, it is very easy to get sloppy with your writing. Otherwise, if you’re looking for a decent gel pen with a spring loaded clip, then it’ll probably be easier to find a Zebra Sarasa Clip instead. This is one I agree with, and I’m pretty sure I have mentioned this exact problem in previous posts. She liked the pen overall, but said it gave her trouble with it leaving ink smudges on the opposite page of her notebooks. This pen can be refilled with two different types of ink, various colours and different thicknesses without disposing of the main part. From consistency of color to ink that dries quicker than most, MUJI pens are designed for a smoother writing experience.

The pens coped better with these highlighters compared to the Mildliner, but the Zebra Sarasa was the only pen with no smudging at all. If you look around a classroom of university students, it’s likely you can find a good portion of them using a Muji pen or highlighter. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. This Muji gel pen is lightweight, thick-barreled, and made of a soft plastic that makes it fairly comfortable to grip. Though they all smudged to some extent, the Zebra Sarasa pen was the one with the least amount of smudging. It sucks that the nearest Muji in my area (2-3hrs away) do not offer the fountain pen; I’ve been wanting to try it. The new Gel Ink Ballpoint Pen bodies and refills are incompatible with previous versions of MUJI Gel Ink Ballpoint Pens which were launched April 2019 or earlier. In bold colours, they gloss about their soft-hand grip, the smoothest ink ever, and how it will last you for the next year.

All of our gel pens, mechanical pencils, and writing supplies are carefully crafted for simplicity, quality and functionality. The slim barrels of the gel pens are very comfortable in the hand, and they fill a specific purpose I have been seeking to fill for some time now. MUJI pens are available in many styles, each designed to be very simple and generous, and therefore loved by many people. All refills are compatible with Gel Ink Pen Body Knock Type / Cap Type so that you can create your own Gel Ink Ballpoint Pen. I agreed to take a look at it, thinking I would see another suitably functional but unremarkable rollerball or gel pen. By continuously making improvements on costing, material and user experience, MUJI endeavors to bring a better writing episode to the user from time to time. I’ve heard of Muji in the past, and I’ve read other bloggers’ positive opinions of them, but I never picked any up. MUJI's brand new Gel Ink Ballpoint Pen bodies and refills are easily combined due to their unified size and lengths, so that waste of materials can be minimized.

One of the interesting things which happened during my time away was how the stationery/ studyblr community collectively moved away from the Muji gel pens as a ‘must-have’ stationery item. It has an all-black, hexagonal barrel – like a cross between a pencil and a Signo RT1 – and it uses ballpoint (oil-based) ink. It is designed as a pocket pen, making it compact and portable, allowing you to carry it with ease and use it at any time. Overall, the Muji Gel ink pen is favored by many for its convenient size, smooth writing experience, wide color selection, and durable construction. Inside you’ll find some surprisingly thick paper that feels incredibly smooth and possibly coated, like Rhodia or Clairefontaine.Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. It’s more of a microfrustration than anything, but it’s something that rarely happens with Muji pens unless they run out of ink. Something else that I’ve noticed is how some of my friends have purchased enough of these pens to cover the whole spectrum of the rainbow, and they take pride in using all these variations in colour when taking their notes.
