Description

And I can tell you any time you see any type of anise in the heart or base, its going to have a powdery smell. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it is really well balanced, and is one of the most versatile iris designer fragrances in the market.

The leather isn't too bold, it's perfect, the anise gives it a nice spicy smell, the citrus blends with the olive and it's really unique. The opening and mid are enjoyable, but the dry down of Anise, Tonka, and Leather did not work well on my skin. It seems to be the perfect balance of light citrus, dark, smoky woods and deep leather with tobacco and a creamy/powdery touch.

Powdery clean florals, musk, soft vanilla, and citrus - this is my all-time favorite winter fragrance. This might just be the best release of 2004, I am gutted they reformulated and placed it in a new bottle. Regardless of how good it smells (which it does - very refined masculine leather scent), it doesn't matter as the performance and projection is -terrible- to the point that there is almost no chance anybody will smell it on you 30 minutes after application. Just did a test spray on my hand, I expected a warmer fragrance but it’s surprisingly fresh and versatile smelling.

You get some compliments from time to time if you wear it to a work or school setting, or any social setting in general. I still don't think a blind purchase is justifiable, but it will be easy to test it in different perfumeries. The scent difference of the bottle of 2012 against 2018 is big you can understand it easy , but the new bottles of 2022 men , really Armani? In its sleek, striking black form, elevated with sensorial touches and silver accents, the bottle stands as a beautiful object, designed to last. However this is still a really nice scent so don't look at Drakkar Noir as a discouragement that colognes been around for 40 years for a reason.A bit of a bummer that they changed the formulation, I haven’t smelled the new EDT release but many people say it doesn’t smell as good as this one. It's sweet but also dark BUT ALSO FRESH (and i LOVEEEEE fresh fragrances and when dark fragrances can also be fresh it's a win).

I've read reports of problems involving the term "Black" on the European market, but nothing confirmed.

I know everyone's different but I get none of the anise or lemon to speak of, either of which would make it much more pleasing to me. Complaints on bad performance but I find I get about 6-7 hours on this fragrance, with strong projection in about the first 1-3 hours, before it dries down to a smooth vanilla and tonka.
